I have an Asus P2L97 board, which uses the LX chipset. I am wondering if it is possible to run a 600mhz or higher Celeron on this board (using an FC-PGA slotket obviously).
I have a few concerns: Jumper settings (for multiplier), and Core Voltage requirements.
Believe the new FCPGA Celeron2 defaults to 1.5v. Asus' website says the voltage regulator on this board supports 1.8 - 3.5v. Now I guess it should be OK to run the Celeron2 at 1.8 because I've done this with a Celeron 566A in a BX board to get it up to 850. So thats my first concern....
Celeron 600 runs at a 9x multiplier. Asus provides Jumper settings up to 7.0x (466mhz). This seems like a major problem to me. However some have suggested that the multiplier setting "doesn't matter", that the cpu will provide the proper multiplier to the motherboard so It doesnt make a difference what I set the jumpers too. This is the part I am having problems with...
Anyone out there have this board, or something similar that can advise on the feasibility of such a thing?
Worst case scenario is I buy the Celeron 600, if it doesn't work I swap it with my friend who has a C466 running in a Via133 fc-pga board which will surely work. But I'd really like to use the 600 in the LX board.
Thanks.
