Asus P2B-LS Question

I have an older asus p2b-ls, and on the asus product link it says up to a p2-450. Now i know that it runs the 440bx chipset at 100mhz, and that the physical jumpers (no softmenu) only go up to 6x or so (im not near the mb right now) but i am hoping that it can support a much faster chip...

what is the max i can do with this mb? will it run slot1 p3's?

Well if your jumpers support up to a 6x multiplier, you could theoretically use a p3 600. The BX chipset should be able to support any 100mhz FSB cpu if your bios is updated. You should check the ASUS website for bios updates and see if they have any notes on what cpus are supported.

nothing on the asus website, and i cant find a contect email for them either.

i just thought someone once told me something about how the cpu set the multiplier (since intel cpus are multi locked) so anything slot1 would work? im just making sure...

you should be able to run a coppermine flipchip with slocket on that board!
this page should assist you! 🙂
btw you can forget about setting the multiplier jumpers on your m/board as all intel cpus are multiplier now locked.
