Asus P2B bios flash, 1012?

I'de just like to know if I could flash from a 1007 bios to 1012. I'm pretty sure I can, but I don't know if it's worthwhile. Will this newer bios allow me to use coppermine CPU's in this board? How high can I go? I've heard of ppl running 1 gig chips on these, but I'm not sure.

Hmmm...i dunno...the latest BIOS is actually ACPI BIOS 1013 beta 07 (using it on my p2b-f)...you can download it at asuscom.de. The main asus website is always behind with their bios files...but the german asus site always seem up to date...odd. anyways...i think it depends on the revision of the board...R1.12 for your board at least.

Thanks. Mine is a rev 1.02, does this mean that with the latest BIOS I can run a coppermine cpu on it? (with the slotket I guess)???

with a slocket, yes!
a slot 1 cpu theoretically(& offically) won't work so don't chance it! 🙂

Well on the website it says a rev 1.12 is needed to run coppermines...funny thing is i've never seen a p2b with that high of a revision...then again there actually is one. since you said yours is a rev 1.02...i don't know if it could run the new coppermines on it. maybe you can borrow one from someone just to check the functionality before you go off plunking money down for something that's not sure to work.

All of the P2B's I have seen runs a coppermine cpu and I have never seen a revision 1.12 board. Some of the older boards you have to set to 1.8 volt on the slocket, they don't go any lower.

Thanks all, that link is really good too Bacillus. Nice!!! (Just got the board off of ebay, it was almost broken too, but it works and I'm glad I can put a fast processor on it)...

I had my old P2B flashed to 1012 bios
it was a rev 1.10

sold it a couple weeks ago though, great board
