on the front page of hardocp, they show a picture of an asus retail opteron board that is single CPU and has an AGP slot! anyone have any info on this? if opteron gives good performance and overclocks half way decently, i may have to become and early adoptor 😀.

which one of these chipsets?

AMD has no northbridge and thus no AGP. I think, AGP is all the Northbridge does now, so I wonder if they have a plan to get rid of that chip.

Here are some more pics
amdboards

I haven't looked at the pic but it is most likely ASUS' nForce3 Pro 150 motherboard, as they are NVIDIA's launch partner.

Remember that the "North Bridge" is built into the Opteron processor, all that's necessary is an AGP Bridge. AMD does have an AGP Bridge (the AMD 8151) however none of the server motherboards feature this chip, at the request of AMD; they did not want the Opteron's launch to have any sort of an Enthusiast/Workstation focus.

Take care,
Anand

That's correct, the Asus SK8N.
The caption reads 'AMD Opteron processor workstation motherboard, and ther is definitely an AGP slot.
