asus onboard cmedia without surround.....

I have an Asus a7v333 with onboard cmedia CMI8738 6ch SPDIF and i can NOT get surround to work with this. Anybody else have this prob and have you fixed it, if so please let me know how? I have tried updated drivers, cmedia app's, everything. I am stumped on how to get my surround to enable.

you check the bios? there is a function on the bios that lets you set between 2, 4 and 6 speakers.
