ASUS Nforce mobo is FAST!!!

Just got around to installing my Asus A7N266-E and preliminary results are very promising. Sandra memory scores are a little over 1000 (2001te), compared to my Epox 8KHA+which typically runs 895-910. Its also very stable, no funny behavior whatsoever. I will test with 3dmark later.

The price is kinda steep ($160) and I never had any Asus board before but quality is pretty obvious here, from the board, the well-written manual, quick reference cards, quick install guides and two free games (full versions)! All in all, well worth the money.

Glad to hear it. I'm the happy owner of an MSI K7N420 board in my secondary rig. I've barely had to make a single tweak since I set this rig up 2 months ago.

Btw, are you gong to be doing any overclocking? I hear the PCI lock feature is really nice (my nForce board doesn't have this). You should see how that works out.

If you bought it for $160 then consider yourself lucky. Everywhere I've checked sells it for about $180.

Well, 3dmark scores area bout the same compared to my Epox 8KHA+ (with Visiontek original GF3 and Athlon XP at 1600+, 7300ish give or take a few points).
But as for OC'ing, well it DOES have a fixed PCI frequency of 33mhz, no matter how you set the FSB (which, incidentally, is not in 1mhz increments). I now have it at 150fsb, default CPU voltage, DDR voltage at 2.5v (default is at 2.6v) and its rock stable. I haven't really pushed it to the limits yet but those PC2700 memory modules are looking better everyday( as well as an XP unlocking kit).
