I have both of these cards in my posession and was wondering which would be better to put in my PC. The main difference between the cards is that one has DVI w/64MB and the other has 128MB with standard connection. Here are the specs of each:

this is the most accurate comparison between the two cards: Text

Asus MX440: DVI/D-sub connection
64MB memory
pulled from a sony PCV-RZ series vaio

Gigabyte 9250SE: only Dsub connection
128MB memory
been using it so far without problems

I should mention that i have a Dell Ultrasharp 17in with DVI, if i hook it up to the mx440, will i notice any major difference in image quality at the native resoultion of 1280 by 1024?

yes, though not all that much at that resolution. It will be somewhat of a difference.

Ugh; neither of those is a good choice if you want to do any sort of 3D applications.

For desktop work, either will be fine. If you can use DVI with your monitor, use the card with DVI. Not likely to be a night-and-day difference, though.

Your 9250 has a marginal lead on a 440 MX in speed, but the main thing it offers that the other does not, is Dx9. The 440 MX is a Dx8 piece. As already noted, both are slugs if 3D will be involved. There is a literal treasure trove of better video you can take advantage of, since those two are so very close to the very bottom rung of performance (hardly better than IGP for the 9250, and about even with current IGP offerings, if not lagging behind, for the MX card).
