ASUS MG279Q alternatives?

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor in anticipation of a future gpu upgrade, currently using a 24" Dell Ultrasharp 1900x1200 IPS panel. I want to make the jump to at least 1440p and also stick with IPS since I don't think I could ever go back to TN (I do enough photo/video work that the difference does matter). I'm committing to AMD at this point, either Polaris or Vega depending on how they stack up, so freesync support is also a plus. I've been browsing monitors and it seems only the MG279Q fits all my requirements. The only thing holding me back from the purchase is it gets a lot of bad reviews for quality control problems, IPS bleed, dead pixels, awful factory calibration etc.

I do wonder how much of that is just the usual confirmation bias, people are after all much more likely to leave a review if they have problems than if they don't, although I note the reviews are basically unanimous everywhere the monitor is for sale. I'm thinking to just take the chance and return it if I get a dud, but are there any other monitors that might suit me? It's basically 1440p, freesync, IPS all together.

Pulled the trigger on the Acer XF270HU, it's a little cheaper than the ASUS. Just hoping I get a good sample. Looking forward to going up a notch in resolution and seeing what sort of improvement freesync will deliver.

Next task: Applying for membership of the 'waiting for Vega (and Zen!) fanclub' :p

FWIW that's the monitor I would get too. TFT central gave it a very good review.
