Your question or point being . . . what?

Great, if you think you need "Thunderbolt." Even greater, if you think (as I do for the moment) that ASUS is building some great motherboards. But when it gets down to bang-for-the-buck, I'd look at several Maximus versions and and some of the more modest ASUS Z77 options, with an eye toward what it is I want and need specifically.

The Maximus board(s) may feature convenient means of measuring voltages with a multi-meter. For some, such a feature is definitely worth the extra money. It has other features, which one may or may not find in their "want and need" bucket.

If I win the Mega-Millions Lottery, I will put a Maximus V board on my purchase list. [I will also buy a new house, a new car, and even a bigger TV.] It's not a lot of chump-change difference -- between the high-end Maximus flagship and (say) a SaberTooth or P8Z77 model. But since I haven't won the lottery, I ask myself the basic questions before I make the outlay.

The Maximus V Extreme is the only ROG board with built in Thunderbolt. Asus has two Maximus V Formulas, one with the ThunderFX USB sound device and one without.

I think he was just linking the review so others would see it. Though that same review was listed in the news sections daily review roundup a few days ago.

Well, I always keep an eye on the ASUS flagship models. I was impressed with last year's Maximus IV Z68 board -- not "firsthand," mind you, but impressed anyway.

I would consider ASUS boards more if they would quit trying to push Thunderbolt on me. I have no use, no gear and no plans on using the technology yet. Thus I dont want to buy a board with less features that I currently need just so I can budget in the ASUS name. Shame to cuz I like ASUS products. They just seemed so focused on TBolt that they are slacking in other areas IMHO..
