With the level of troubleshooting details you've provided the possibilities are truly endless.

Dear Gang,

1) what power supply are you using? Brand/watts/etc. Specifics helpful..

2) Stock CPU cooler?

3) Voltage on your ram? Dude, there are about 20 2 x 1gb OCZ DDR2 800 ram sets:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...7166%2CN82E16820227232

And, looks like they all like 2.0v or more: assuming your power supply is OK, could be that your board is trying to boot high performance memory that wants 2.0V or more at 1.8V: some folks have to buy a stick of 1.8V standard JDEC ram to change the settings in the bios for their gaming ram.

Case: what kind? Since your rig has never started, there is obviously no cooling problem: but, is the case easy to work with? Might there be an extra motherboard stand off behind mobo making contact, shorting it out? Poor quality case, and therefore poor quality wiring--if the case sucks, something as simple as a shorted out on/off or reset switch can turn your new rig into an ugly paperweight.

As Ted said:

It's like a medical diagnosis: need the data: patient height/weight/blood pressure/past history, and symptoms: cough? Headache? etc....

Thanks for all the posts; I finally decided that I'm not good at that and returned everything back to frys, 2 x P5K-E mobo, 1 x Maximus formula special edition mobo, 3 PSUs, 2gig memory, sata hdd, eGeforce 8500 graphics card. The processor I bought it 6 months ago from zipzoomfly that I can't return, so its going to sit there collecting dust. I'm going to buy some HP or Dell crap.
I'm so relieved now

Hey gangt1, building computers is not rocket science. Any idiot can do it. If you have the desire, there are some basics you must adhere to such as not blowing up your stuff by handling. I'm talking about ESD- electro-static discharge. Be sure you have the power on/off switch plugged in the correct connector. If this isn't inserted correctly, your mobo will never power up. If the machine doesn't POST, then unplug everything except the motherboard and video car a minimal configuration & go from there. But be sure to turn the power off each time you remove or insert a card. Use a power supply you know works. Older power supplies will just die when they want to. I just brought my old machines to my nephew. I pulled everything out of my first over-clocked computer. One made with an Abit BX-6 mobo & a Celeron 300A which I overclocked & ran for years at 450 Mhz. I had him assemble it & we ran into a few problems, each one was handled and he now has a machine which won't play any of his games! lol But he will build his own. I just built ne with a E6750 and it screams. with sales & rebates, I paid about $1,000. Had I gone Dell, I'd of been raped for $3-4,000. Don't go Dell dude...
