Well I just picked up this Asus Maximus SE board, thinking it would be another great board just like my current A8N32-16X...but that was not the case. I set up my system using this MB, a Q6600 and 2GB of Corsair Ram (which is on the QVL), and the system would not start. I got a part of the logo on the post screen, after which it would just hang.

The "LCD Poster" that plugs onto the MB and indicates the bios status is all but useless, as it hangs on random startup check points, though never displays an actual error. I reseated the CPU and the RAM but that did nothing. I the moved the ram from the blue slots to the white slots, a "fix" that worked with previous Asus boards that yield posting troubles. Nothing changed.

Upon doing some research, I discovered that Asus' quality control as of late is not what it used to be, and their Maximus board is plagued with problems. I happen to have a board that was "made in china", apparently an indicator of problematic boards. The good boards supposedly are "made in taiwan" at a different manufacturing facility.

Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed because now I have to wait for an RMA from Newegg...which may also not work. I would just as soon have returned this board and gotten a Gigabyte X38 DQ6, but I'm stuck with the Crapimus since newegg doesn't allow returns for refunds on motherboards. Can't blame them there...

I hope that anyone thinking about buying the Asus Maximus doesn't...or at least does their homework...and if anyone else is running this board, I'd like to hear your experiences with it, because I don't want to RMA another one.
