I purchased this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145325 And the bios is saying it's DDR3-1066. What do you recommend I do to resolve this issue?
Thanks!

I have this mobo too!
Trying to figure out why it doesn't let my cpu lower its voltage when the cpu is idling (it idles my 2600K at 1.6GHZ but 1.25V).
I too have an issue with the default memory speed. I bought some DDR3-2133 sticks but the mobo defaults them to DDR3-1600.
Near as I can tell the mobo just randomly decides which SPD setting it wants to apply for your ram, because DDR3-1600 is neither the lowest nor the highest SPD entry for the dimms in my case.
I haven't found a way in the BIOS to tell it to use a specific SPD setting (complete with all the timings stored in that SPD). I have found where I can set the DDR3 speed (1600, 1800, 2133, etc) but I still have to dial in my own timings at that point.
If you figure it out please report back so I can find out too!
Damn! I just looked at the manual for your motherboard and while your BIOS sure is pretty, it seems to be lacking a lot.
I used Asus almost exclusively but for some reason went Gigabyte with my 2500K.....and while the BIOS is old school, it does access the XMP profiles in the memory and does drop the voltage on the cpu at idle.
Looks like Asus tried too hard with that new BIOS and just screwed the pooch in the end.
