Asus M5A97 gets stuck on BIOS splash screen for several minutes

I rebooted my computer yesterday and it got stuck on the ASUS splash screen. Pressing delete would not get me into the BIOS. I tinkered with everything including the peripherals and tried to reset the BIOS but still could not get it to boot up. I left the splash screen up and walked away and came back to the computer fully booted into windows. Any ideas?? I haven't really messed with any software or hardware settings so this is pretty puzzling.

The motherboard is a M5A97 V1.x Im not sure if my other specs are relevant because everything has been working smoothly for a year +.

What OS are you using? Could be any number of things, from a drive taking too long to identify, USB 3.0 device failing to ID etc. Have you tried moving keyboard to a dif USB port?

I am running windows 10. I attempted to unplug all drives and still had the same issue. the keyboard is wireless but I have not tried a different port.
