Here's my whole list:

PCIe x16/8_1 -- GTX580
PCIe x1_1 -- EMPTY
PCIe x16_2 -- EMPTY
PCIe x8_3 EMPTY
PCIe x16_4 Creative HD soundcard
PCIe x4_1 Killer Gaming Network card

both in BIOS and GPU-Z shows running x8, i tried that rendering thing in GPU-Z no luck still in x8.

since i'm not using the x8_3 slot, there shouldn't be anything sharing the bandwith with my GTX580, but im not sure.

and I don't know if there's any other thing share bandwith with that slot.
(like the x4_1 or any other controllers)

I have been running on this since late 2011, but i just decide to replace my 580 with a GTX780. I don't know if this is ok for a 780 running on PCIe x8 2.0.

thanks in advance!

If possible load up BIOS defaults and check for an update. While it wont cause any issues running half-speed you want the card to be able to run full, thus maximizing performance.

Also make sure your power supply is up to the task...

thanks EXcell, have a Antec 1200 for this gig, so it should be Okay.
tried reset my BIOS and update to the lastest one.

this prob bugs me along the way, i kinda hv the idea running in half speed won't be an issue with my GTX580, but not sure if with GTX780, which seems to be a monster card.

thanks again :)

Yea either way you want a single card configuration to run x16 (native). Two will run half speed on most boards etc. You should be able to configure the slot in bios, especially if it's the primary adapter slot. A little strange that it's not a default setting but I've seen weirder things...
