Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe

I'm looking ahead to upgrading from my current socket 939 platform to the AM2 / AM2+ platform and I'd like to know whether my single, Geforce 8800GTX will work if I use it with the Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe motherboard that features the 790FX chipset that supports Crossfire X. Thank you.

Yes it will work with any single PCI-E Nvidia/ATI card....just no SLI.

Thank you, Sylvanas for your helpful advice. On one hand I'm glad to know that my Geforce 8800GTX will work with it, but on the other hand I'm worried that I won't be able to plug in a second like-GFX card because, I guess, Crossfire will only work with AMD's ATI cards. I'm going to investigate whether or not there are other AM2 / AM2+ motherboards with a non-Crossfire X chipset, perhaps from Gigabyte, DFI or Via Technologies. Would anyone reading this know to make any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

The only AMD chipsets that support SLI are from Nvidia (the same goes for Intel) so you have two choices. One is the 'old' tried and tested 590 SLI chipset from Nvidia which if I remember correctly has 8x8 SLI mode, 'supports' both AM2 and AM2+ CPU's but there have been reports of numerous problems with Phenoms and older AM2 only boards- bottom line is you want an AM2+ board for Phenom. Which leaves you with waiting for the upcoming Nvidia 780a chipset that Redstorm tracked down in this thread. The yet to be announced/released 780a chipset has dual 16x16 SLI and 'should' offer much better support for AM2+ CPU's, but I have no idea how long you will be waiting.
