I am upgrading a four year old ASUS/Celeron DDR based system with new board, cpu and ram.
I just bought an ASUS M2N68-AM board, an AMD X2 5000+ CPU and two 1gb sticks Centon 667mhz DDR2 RAM. Put it in the case with an exisitng install of Win XP Home 32bit on a 40gb Western Digital IDE drive, and an older IDE CR/RW drive. Also have a Thermaltake 350W PSU.
This new board/CPU/RAM setup won't post. I had the vendor (local TigerDirect) replace the AMD CPU with another 5000+ unit, and I get the same results.
Any ideas on this problem? Since I have replace the CPU, how can I test the mobo to see if its bad? Centon was not on the ASUS "approved" memory list.
04/04/09 - turns out it was an incompatibility with the front panel connectors on the case I was using. Put this in a new Foxconn case and its working fine.
