i'd like my next MB to be plug-and-play, ready for action.

i'm happy to give it a good CPU and Patriot 3-2-3-8 DDR2 and a Noctua NH-12 for OC'ing ... but i don't want to have to futz around with BIOS updates.

another question ~ can you do BIOS updates when you're in XP, like you just download them ? i have these images of EPROM flashes from earlier in my career.

how do you do BIOS updates these days ? maybe it's not that hard.

10 years ago, was a BIOS update accomplished by swapping out the BIOS IC for another IC ?
