Ok here goes I just went from this:
Cooler Master Centurion 5 Case
Antec SmartPower 500 Watt Modular PSU
ASUS M2N-E Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz Socket AM2
1GB (512x2) Corsair XMS2 DDR2800 PC6400 Dual Channel CAS 5
BFG 3D Fuzion GeForce 7600GT PCI-E 256MB RAM 128-Bit
2x Hitachi Deskstars 80GB 7200RPM SATA2 in RAID 0
NEC 3550A DVDRW Burner

I got a 2nd 7600GT (BFG) so decided to finally put it all in with my M2N32 that has been in the wings till I got the 2nd card.

I never had issue one with the above setup, the only thing I changed from that was I removed the floppy and put in a card reader, and changed the PS to a http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817152022
Raidmax Aurora RX-580F, one that will support SLI.

So I took it all apart and put the new MB in and then when I tried to power it up it would turn on for like 3-5 seconds then turn off. If you hit reset nothing, if you hit power process would repeat.

I then stripped parts out one at a time, 1 video card, swapped cards, moved to other PCI-e slot, took one ram stick out, moved to all 4 slots, removed 1 HD, moved to another SATA slot, took out all the HD's, removed all external and front panel connections, removed all case fans, swapped PS's. removed DVD. I had it down to just the CPU and fan, and problem was still the same. I saw other people have had this same issue on other forums but no one ever posts what the problem/fix was.

Thank you for any help.

this problem was very widespread when AM2 was just released...it is mostly because the mobo doesnt like your memory.

Do you know which BIOS it has?...I think the 0603 version and up corrected alot of these problems. Try booting up with one stick and upgrade the BIOS. If you already have a newer BIOS or if the BIOS didn't help, try booting up in the BIOS and set memory settings manually with if i remember something about ADVANCED PS 300-600.

Problem is I can't get the damn thing to post, I am pretty sure the ram is on the approved list, but will check again. I will try to clear the cmos again and see if I can get the damn thing to let me in. I was going to buy more ram, but was going to match it to what I have, maybe I will just buy some that will for sure work and sell this ram to the guy I work with who bought my other MB. Thanks for all your help and I will post how it turns out.

Just an update, I bought a cheap stick of Vendor Approved 533, took the MB out of the case, moved new ram in all 4 slots still same problem. Looks like it is going to go back for RMA, it pisses me off mostly since the Corsair is on the Approved List and it still won't even post. Anyway thanks for the help. BTW I did fall back to the M2N-E and everything still works there at least.
