On a new Asus MB install:

OS: WinXP-Pro Sp2
Processor: Athalon XP 2700+
Ram: 512 DDR 3200 (Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512)
Antec Solution case with Antec SL350 350w power supply
Seagate 7200.7 80 gig and 120 gig hard drives

I can't get the LOM to accept any drivers. This is supposed to be a 3COM 3C940 chip,
(3COM Link)
Similar to the 3C2000-T Gigabit NIC.

The hardware shows up in Device Manager, but will not accept any of the drivers that came on the CD, downloaded from ASUS or 3Com.

I've attempted to contact Asus four times in the past two weeks, by various methods,(email, form submission from their support site and by phone) but no luck.

Is this lack od support par for the course with Asus?

Anyone have any brilliant solutions for the LOM problem? I've kicked the tires so many times that my shoes are worn out.

Thanks, folks.

From what I've seen, that's typical treatment from Asus, yeah :p Do you actually need the throughput of gigabit Ethernet? If not, 100Mbit NICs are very affordable...

Yes, that's what I just did: Pulled the 3Com nic out of the old box and plugged it into the new one. Disabled LAN in the BIOS and I'm off to the races. Shouldn't have to have done that, though.
I'll NEVER buy another ASUS product.
Zero support. Zero.
I'd rather buy an average product with great support than a great product with average (or worse) support.
Unless of course, the product is so good that you never need support. But I've yet to find that one!
Thanks for the pragmatic reply. That did the trick.
