Asus KT266A mobo almost here...

It is here. Some resellers are allready selling it but it's way overpriced @ $177. 8KHA+ and AK31A and K7T266 Pro2-RU are better, and cheaper.

Well I have always found Asus to be one if not the best board on the market and most likely when they are reviewed it will be the board to beat just like always

Athlon4all, the 2 sites on pricewatch are selling preorders, unless you know of other sites selling it everyone is waiting for the end of the month.

Hmmm, if they're a waste of money how come they win motherboard round ups on Anandtech half of the time?

I understand a lot of people aren't big ASUS fans, but DAMN, the boards not even out yet. I haven't seen one review or know of anybody that's got one. sure it will be expensive, so will ABIT's board, but usually these will be very good performers. sure would like to see Iwill make a KT266a board though.

Asus are good but as some members have said pricey ,I don`t see why you should pay extra when boards from Epox,MSI etc are just as stable and cheaper.

🙂

Having owned the A7V133 I'm sure that Asus' entry into the KT266A arena will be rock solid and one of the top performers. I think the two things that swayed me to go in a different direction this time are:

a) Price- This board is gonna be $30-40 bucks more than an Epox or MSI board.

b) 1/5 and 1/6 pci dividers- I waited a few months in the hopes Asus would release a bios enabling a 1/5 pci divider, as it was holding me back in any further Oc'ing attempts. Epox has put out a 1/5 pci in the past, and from the sounds of things, it looks like its a reality on the 8kha+ as well.

Now....if NewEgg would just get them darn things in 🙂

Yo,
Just finished looking at Alpha's website, and the Alpha 8045 cooler will not fit the Asus A7V266/A7V266E boards.

Damn, that's the best all around SocketA cooler at present.

Maybe use a Swiftech? Maybe wait for Abit's board.

and the Via chipset performs a little better [than nForce] anyway.

You should read Anand's review again, because I get tired of telling people the KT266A only won 1 benchmark by more than 3%. All the rest of the benchmarks the nForce won by 1% or 2% or the KT266A won by 1% or 2%.

If you have an FIC or MSI board died on you after a few months of usage, but none of your ASUS ever did, you will not say buying ASUS is a waste of money.

ive had ecs, pc chips, abit.. and a bunch of other cheap boards.. none have been rock solid as my asus boards.. asus fo life!
