Quotes from Tomshardware:

http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041221/cpu_charts-06.html

"All CPUs for Socket 754 only work with a single DDR400 memory interface, which adds up to a maximum memory transfer rate of 3 GB/s. A memory expansion of more than a gigabyte caused frequent problems."

"Socket 754 only has a memory interface. This causes problems when expanding memory by a considerable amount."

This sure sounds like it means that socket 754 does NOT like more than a gig of ram installed. I couldnt find anything on google that suggested this might be the case and ASUS claims the board can do up to 3 gigs so i'm not sure what tom is talking about. Is he not referring to actual RAM present in the system?

Anyone have any problems like this? Anyone put more than a gig of ram into a 754 system?

Hello,

I have 1.5 GB 3 x 512 DDR400 Kingston, there is no problem. AMD 64 2800+ overclocked to 1980/220.

Best
Paul

I agree about Moore

Very handy benchmarks in that article.
Great reference for just about every CPU from a Pentium 100 up to the BIG DADDY... Prescott 3.72EE

Anyone know what that article is referring to then? I'm sure enthusiasts would be up in arms if the 754 didnt support more than a gig of ram.

You mean the FX-55 big daddy. Observe that this was with the pre Nforce 4 (K8t800). Must update! Also observe that he has one of the Pentium 4 EE's overclocked in their memory department but not the AMD's. HMMMMM. I would love either the 3.72 EE or the FX-55 with a leaning to the FX-55 (soon to be FX-57). MMMM 3.0gigahertz on water. MMMM
