roblem Related to K8V not displaying or booting at all:

A few month ago i bought the ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard for Socket 754.

Yesterday an unfortunate thing happened. I switched my PC to standby mode from WinXP. Later i plugged off the power so i could clean the dust and other maintanance stuff.

Later that night i installted the K8V into my Casing back.

Now, When i start my PC.. I get no display at all and my Keyboard lights turn on and off progessively. Although the Motherboard LED lights up and my CPU fan and other fans also power-up.

I have tried reseting the BIOS and disconnected additional parts like CD-ROM and HD but still when i turn my PC on, i get no display and it seems the motherboard isnt doing more than powering up the fans.

MAJOR PROBLEMS experienced:

1. Turning on PC, NO DISPLAY
2. Keyboard lights go wild.
3. All fans power-up and LED shows but no progress further.
4. After carefully removing the CPU Cooler, i found that turning on the PC does not heat-up the CPU.

For further details:

All parts mentioned below are working except the motherboard. The CPU is checked on another motherboard and its working. On the K8V SE Dlx i have, the CPU doesnt heat-up at all when i turn on the PC.

System Specs:

AMD Athlon64 3000+ (newcastle) Socket 754
ASUS K8V SE DELUXE
SERIAL NO: 44ZM126830
Part No: 90-M9L06K-G0UAYZ

GigaByte X800 Pro
Mushkins Basic 2 x 256 MB DDR 400
Samsung DVD-Combo.

Since im not the U.S at the moment as im stuck in some prject, i would like you to assist me in resolving my problem.

Thank You.

Not even any beeps? If your mobo gives you a beep sequence your manual should tell you what the problem is.

My guess is that either your video card or a power connector got unseated after you cleaned the mobo. I would go back and check to see if everything is making good contact.

And for God's sake, never remove your heatsink and then power up with your CPU naked. You may have added to your problems by frying your CPU.

No.. i checked all things on another motherboard. CPU and video card both are fine.

I dont get any beeps. This is not a memory problem because atleast i should get a display but i dont.

And yes, the keyboard lights go wild too. A problem which a technician told me occurs when a mobo fails.

But if my mobo is dead, why does the LED light up and why does it even power the CPU fan and other chasis fans.

I've checked all connectors, did restart more than 20-30 times, no use.. cleared BIOS removed and reinstall another HD.. useless.

Is it possible to damage a motherboard without even knowing what happened.

I've heard stories of not to grab it with bare hand, well i did and i always do.

But there has to be a way out.. no warranty and its only been 3 months since i bought my $ 2000+ PC.

I have had my K8V for awhile now with no issues.

Did you make sure that the four pin power connector was connected to the mobo?
Is this the first time you have installed this mobo into this box or is this a "reinstall" of some sort?

You need to provide more information about your setup and what you have done IE box type, power supply, ram, Updated the BIOS etc etc.

This was not the first time.

It was running for 4 months.

A couple of days earlier i opened the whole setups into bits and pieces.

Cleaned everything only with soft brush and cloth ( and some mouth breath ).

BIOS version was 1004.

Now, does that WinXP standby thing involved in this??

Because i switched my PC to standby and then plugged it off.

I dont know whw, this ASUS turns out to be a major disappointment. Since im running ZALMAN CPU+AGP Coolers, i may not get an MSI Neo Platinum because it may not fit.

Either way, i must do something with this K8V and my dad ( Dont ask me whats happening ).

No beeps could mean the board is shorting itself out somewhere. Have you made sure there is nothing on the motherboard tray that could be doing that? Maybe a drop of arctic silver fell on the board?

I've just recieved 2 extensive emails from ASUS support center. Well im amazed actually how they managed to reply back within 24 hours.

But anyway, the instructions they gave me are no different from what i've already tried.

My board is not out of the case and everything is stripped now.

A guy told me that something may have happened due to static charges.

I never use wrist bands and no one usually does. If my board capacitors got leaked due do this static body charge, its very unfortunate.

Now, i aint putting my board on any metal surface rather on card board box.

But this im sure that ive tried all possible steps to help my self.

I wonder if my BIOS flew off. if yes, how to flash BIOS on a non-working board??
