I have the following configuration nothing overclocked:
Asus K8V
2x512 Corsair ram
primary master 40g ide
promise raid controller 2xWD120JB connected with Highpoint Rockethead ATA->SATA adapters
When i create the array it is fine, however after a few shut downs, or a power interuption the RAID1 array is flagged as critical and must rebuild. Sometimes the 2nd drive in the array isnt detected as part of the array, even tho it is listed as connected to it.
I tested the hdds using wd's utilities in both ATA and SATA mode, there are no problems.

The problem was a defective RocketHead
I switched that drive to ide and it worked fine.
