ASUS K8V Deluxe questions

Hi, I am relatively unfamiliar with motherboards, but to me, it seems the ASUS K8V Deluxe is a good choice for my athlon 64 3200+. After reading some reviews , I have two questions.

1) Only a few types of ram have been "qualified" for use with it. Should I get the stuff they tested, or is this stuff allright to use?

2)Will this heat sink fit on that mounting thing, and will it have enough area around it? Are there any other quiet heatsinks you would recommend?

EDIT: after looking at their site for a bit longer, it looks like it should be fine, but if anyone thinks otherwise, please say so
EDIT AGAIN: would this thing fit? (with the fan)

I would also appreciate any other thoughts or personal experiences with it, and perhaps another motherboard that you would recommend instead.

Somebody replied in the official thread that they had problems with the Zalman. I like the Thermaltake Silent boost K8 (21dba) its quiet, and fits perfectly.

I had problems with my Crucial memory, but I fixed that by installing it in slots 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2. You can read more about it in the official thread.

Also, I believe that heatsink will fit, but you need to take the pre-installed heatsink holder off the motherboard first.
