Hi,

I have been looking at this asus board and the asus page says it's Dual-Channel DDR400. This is a socket 754 board with onboard graphics. I plan on using the igp as i only surf the web and watch some divx type movies.

Asus k8s-mx

I thought that skt 754 did not use dual channel. Do I need 2 sticks of ram to take advantage of it? Is it a big advantage?

Thanks

Jason

You are correct, s754 A64 chips are not DC enabled. And this is not the only board I've seen falsely advertised to implement dual channel. I think they (the manufacturers) are in the habit of saying dual channel.

Nice choice on the mobo, you will be very happy. Dual channel will give you no noticeable improvement (it's 3-5% but you'll never notice outside of framerate counter and the advantage is negated completely if you pick up a 1MB L2 cache A64)
