I have searched and not found an answer. We have an ASUS K8N and now have a NEW 400GB Maxtor SATA drive in it. We installed XP-PRO SP2 and hit F6 and use the floppy for the Mass Storage driver and Raid Driver. Raid is off in BIOS but SATA is ON.
Nothing I did installed XP. Then, I thought...I wonder if XP sp2 has SATA built in.
I tried to install again, and it worked! However...I now have a strange issue that I have seen others mention with no answer.
It will not start XP unless turned on from a power down state! This means a reboot, or warm start will not work. We still have BIOS 1004, and do see ver 1011 out now.
Does anyone know if I do need to load drivers via F6 for a NON RIAD SATA drive? If so, which ones and do I need to load IDE drivers from the ASUS MOBO CD?
TIA...almost everything else is working, so the builtin SATA in SP2 at least sees and installs XP without F6 drivers.
