Asus K8N-E Deluxe Network Issue

I've built a system on this board a few weeks ago that has been for the most part rock solid. The machine is on 24/7 and has never crashed.

However if I stop using the board overnight and let Windows XP Pro lock the system up (though not logged off), it sometimes disconnects itself from the network. It acts as if the network cable is unplugged. If I unlock the machine, it will flash the "Connected to 100MBit/s network" thing in the task bar, and all is well.

It's XP Pro SP 2, but w/o the firewalls enabled either on the board or in XP as I have a firewall on the entire network and didn't want to burden the machine with one.

Has anyone seen behavior like this?

Control Panel > Network Connections > right click properties

Choose configure controller and click on the power management tab - it probably has 'allow this device to turn off to save power' ticked - uncheck it and you should be fine 🙂

You're absolutely right, that was checked. I'll see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the quick reply and info.
