I have just reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP 2, have used Windows updater to update to SP3 and all additional extras.
I have been having problems with my 2nd SATA. When I tried to add it the computer just hangs and locks up when Windows is loading.
It is recognised in the Bios but will not run, does anyone have any ideas?
The system setup is as follows
Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+
2.41GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
BFG GForce 6800 GB OC
Maxtor 160GB Sata
Maxtor 200GB Sata
Lite-on DVD writer x 2
All drivers have been installed but still getting the hang and no boot.
added info: Have tried booting in safe mode with command prompt and it hangs on this line;
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(o)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys

Yes and no. I cannot switch the drives as the 200gb drive is full of info bar about 9meg but hasn't got Windows installed on it.
I have flashed my Bios with the latest available and the drives are detecting there no problems, its getting to boot in Windows that it starts to hang and fail.
I have also downloaded Seatools utilities fom the Seagate website and thrown both drives through all three tests available to which it found no problems.
The problem I am thinking is either eith the settings in Bios of which I have played around with to no avail or as simple as the driver. The driver is a SIL-3114 SATA/RAID driver but when I look in My Devices it is listing the drivers as being NVIDIA nForce3 Parallel ATA Controller (v2.6) & NVIDIA nForce 250 Serial ATA Controller (v2.6).
I have tried removing the driver and searching from disc but Windows just doesn't seem to be able to detect it, I have started them direct from the driver disc and it runs but doesn't seem to attach, if i just delete the drivers I have to restart at which point Windows automatically reassigns the sodding drivers.
Any help would be much appreciated.
