If you are using a GFD you don't have to make any changes to your motherboard. I like to leave the default settings on the MB and then pull the GFD if I want to put the CPU back to the normal speed and voltage.
If you change the settings on your board (throught the bios) and the machine fails to boot you will have a tough time getting workable settings for your cpu. If you leave the settings alone, you can simply remove the GFD.
I was only asking because when I use the GFD and go to boot for the 1st time, I get a message during boot that says something like your CPU and voltage are not set correctly..something like that....
JUP,
GFD stand for Gold Finger Device. The classic Slot A Athlons were sorta locked and the only way to unlock them was to either do a solder job on them or to install a GFD on the PCB..ooh heck..here is a link that explains it much better than I will ever...Athlon overclocking and GFD's
You don't have to worry about using a GFD as you have a Duron!!
