ASUS K501LX vs. UX501JW

Hi guys,

You can see my gaming rig in my signature but I am selling it. Feels like I need portability as I travel to libraries to study but at the same time, be able to game casually on the side.

I am located in Canada. I looked at K501LX and UX501JW from ASUS. Both have GTX 950M and 960M which is very nice, but the price difference is massive (~$1,130 vs. ~$1,800).

What is your suggestion on which laptop to get? Design and performance is extremely important and are my top two priorities.

My budget is up to ~$1800 in Canadian dollars.

Any suggestions and opinions are welcome!

I was also checking out the k501lx and considering it. I wouldn't be doing much gaming on it but more like normal use and maybe some development.

Seems like a great machine but people say the screen is mediocre. If it wasn't for the screen I would probably buy it right now. I haven't checked out the ux501 yet.

I honestly don't mind spending more for the 4K + double RAM and storage (and let alone the GTX 960M!!).

Then go for the UX501. See I want something like that but I don't need the 4k screen. The ssd and ram I can update myself. The kl501 would be perfect for me if it had a better screen.
Since I'm coding I don't care about the GPU either, the 950 is fine for me. I've got a game desktop and both consoles.
