I had heard of some other things like this, mainly on laptops. But basically it allows you to play music on your PC without actually turning it on. To start it you have to hit a button on your keyboard. I am assuming this starts your PC at least partially, sinc eit says you can insert a CD and listen to it. If it doesn't power up then there would be no way to insert a CD.

SO can anyone give me and accurate description of how it works? I assume it has some software embedded in a ROM chip or somehting.

This basically just makes it so that by pressing a special key that the computer's board will turn on the cd drive and speakers but won't turn on the processor or other components.

MSI does the same thing on their SFF computers. You can watch a dvd or listen to a cd without turning the computer on. Its pretty neat stuff, but doesn't take all that much effort to develop, which is sad that more manufacturers haven't added this feature.

does anyone know if the a7n8x does this? I'd love to try it out for fun even though my pc never turns off ;) (would be awsome if it worked with dvds)

I don't know. I think that all it really is is a BIOS feature, so if you found the right one it could. Most motherboards don't seem to have this feature, though.

If its not a SFF board or a laptop board, I'm gonna say it doesn't.
