Asus Hero X add second NVME

I have a 500gb 960 pro nvme system drive and 3 8tb storage drives. I would like to add a 2tb intel 660p in the second m2 slot. I think it should work with the avail SATA sockets I have.
Am I correct? Anything I need to know to set this up? thanks
Dave

It depends on what SATA ports you have your HDDs plugged into. Under the detailed specs for your motherboard (Maxiumus X HERO), it states this at the bottom of the page:
*2 When the M.2_1 socket is operating in SATA mode, SATA port 1 will be disabled.

*3 When the M.2_2 socket is operating in PCIEX4 mode, SATA port 5. 6 will be disabled.

Since you are using a NVMe drive in M.2_1, it does not disable SATA 1. However, by using a NVMe drive in the M.2_2 slot, you will lose SATA 5 and 6.
