ASUS HD 7770 2GB on ASROCK 4coredual-Sata2

Long time lurker, fairly new to posting on the forum, I tried searching for a similar thread and could not find one.

I have been out of the building game for a few years now and was in desperate need of upgrading my ancient Intel Pentium D 3.06 system. I figured the easiest thing to do was a new GPU, grab a mobo and chip in a month or so.

Well I decided to pair an Asus HD 7770 2GB Ghz edition to my ASROCK 4coredual-sata2 board. Of course, its not working. Will not even post. The slot on the board is a PCIE 1.1 @x4 lanes. Not the best I know, it will be replaced soon enough. 😀 For now I want to be able to use it though. Bios is updated to the latest, card is getting power from PCIE connector, green light on card is lit, card works in another machine that is slightly newer spec'd, although I do not have his exact spec's.

My machine:
ASROCK 4coredual-sata2(with latest bios)
Pentium D 3.06GHZ
4GB DDRII Ram
850W RaidMax PSU
Old card is GT 430

You're sure you have the power connector plugged in all the way? First thing I would think of that would stop it from booting. Also check to make sure you didn't unplug anything else when you were in there.

Try putting in the old card and updating the BIOS.

Cable is plugged in nice and tight, power light is lit on the card, seems ok. Looks exact same in the test system. I put my old card back in the machine and it booted right up. 🙁

BIOS was updated to the latest.

I am also planning to flash using the pctreiber bios files as the current on ASROCK is 2.20 and Treiber has an updated BIOS. I will post back after I flash tonight and check it out.
