for people who have been patiently/impatiently waiting for Asus GTX 670's; they are finally available at Newegg. The are not discounted, but all other sites are either backordered or price-gouging.

ASUS GTX670-DC2-2GD5 for $420 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121637 This is stock-clocked with a custom PCB and DirectCu II cooler.

ASUS GTX670-DC2T-2GD5 for $430 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121638 This is the highest-clocked GTX 670--scored a 10/10 by Techpowerup at http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/

If you've been shopping for GTX 670/680's, you know that stock is extremely limited.

I LOVE Asus' DCII technology. My 570 OC's like a beast (with MSI Afterburner...Asus software isn't great imo), and stays COOL.

I want one, but it doesn't quite look like enough of a boost over my GTX570. I'll have to be patient until I can get under the $300 mark... should be worth it then.

Still tempting though.

the Top version is now OOS--no wonder, a quick search shows that most vendors don't have it yet, and the few that list it as pre-order are asking for $460-500 shipped. To me the Top version is the bargain--it not only has top-quality components, but also GTX680-level performance, for $30 over a reference card, itself a bargain with performance that rivals HD 7970. You can take your chance with the $420 stock-clocked DirectCu and hope to overclock it to Top level. But why do that when the Top one only costs $10 more.

Top is tempting but its non-standard pcb means I'd have to get a special water block for it :(

It's an Asus DCII, so it's kinda pointless to watercool it, no? You'd be better off buying an EVGA or something with a smaller form factor with a standard PCB, or in the case of the high-end EVGAs, a custom waterblock made by the manufacturer.

according to Techpowerup's review, this card is quieter at LOAD than most cards are at IDLE, so I'm not sure the added cost of watercooling is justified. Two Tops on the way, yay. Probably sell one on fleabay...

Bah, was about to jump on the T model till I saw OOS. Guess my 460's will have to do me a bit longer, any more $$$ and might as well get a vanilla 680.

Just get the regular version and flash it to the TOP bios

why take the chance of failed bios flashing when you can just o/c it with Afterburner/PrecisionX/GPUtweak? But availability aside, spending $10 or less than 3% more for the Top is worth every penny (presumably the Top has binned chips). Even Galaxy's 670 (clocked at 1006) costs $448 shipped from NE (also OOS). IMO the reference PCB looks downright cheap. Either get Gigabyte's Windforce 670 (clocked at 980) for $400, or either of the Asus. BTW, Asus's 670 comes with a metal backplate which eVGA normally charges $20-25 for.

I'd stay away from anything but the TOP. If they are binning cards anything but a TOP will likely be a dud.

And what proof do you have to back that up? The TOP is just put through a rigorous testing phase to be considered a "TOP". The standard 670 will probably hit 1200 boost core. Again it's all about the cooling. The cooler the chip the higher it will go

Back up what? "If they are binning"? Did you miss the if part of it?

I don't know why people are arguing over the merit of the Top vs reg version--it's not like the Top costs $50 more. The difference is only ten bucks, which you will recuperate when you sell the used card on ebay. I think both Gigabyte's and Asus's 670's are excellent deals compared to other makers'. A lot of people prefer eVGA, which look like nothing but reference designs--no custom PCB with improved power supply or larger/quieter cooler. Have I mentioned that ASUS's have standard backplate, a $25 option on eVGA. So a regular ASUS 670 ($420) is already a much better deal than a regular eVGA 670. And looks like there is merit to custom pcb's, because eVGA does use custom pcb on its FTW 670 ($428 shipped from NE; no backplate), but not on the regular ones.

Exactly. If the Top was that much better and that much binned faster it would cost a lot more
