Yesterday i installed this card on a new sabretooth x58.It has been very cool and silent:biggrin:.What do guys suggest the recommended o/c for this one?I don't want to overvolt unless absolutely necessary.I have core i7 920 running at stock. The cabinet is HAF-X.

Let's see some pics of the rig. The sabertooth is the best looking motherboard available IMO. I also think the direct 2 CU are the best looking gpu's on the market. Should look sweet.

As far as overclocking that bad boy you need a little volts to get some good clock speeds.
I have the same card and it's running at 1.1v 902mhz on the core and I left the memory alone. You won't get much out of overclocking the memory and from what I understand it can be very risky pushing your memory too far. You will see a significant increase once you get into the 900mhz core range. Really to test the 580's stability you've just got to game with it. Furmark and other stress tests are limited by nvidia drivers so gaming really is the only true test. 1.1v is pretty much the widely accepted max volts for 24/7 operation of the 580's. I've had mine 1.15v at 950mhz but I felt safer at 1.1v and the fans were much quieter at 1.1v so I've been using that.

Thanks for the heads up,much appreciated:biggrin: I have really been impressed by it.It is one of the quietest cards i have ever owned.Compared to my previous asus gtx470(i know it is not a great upgrade ^_^) it is just awesome. Also on a side note how do u guys rate intel extreme tuning utility? This is my first experience with it and i am not sure if overclocking with this one is any good( i hate the constant intel disclaimers though ;))

manual overclocking is typically the way to go vs "intel extreme tuning utility" or other such tricks. However, it takes some work/research to get it right. I recommend the overclocking guide in our cpu/overclocking forum for starters.

It has helped me tremendously over the years. I had a p6t for a year or so, it was pretty easy to OC. Rather intuitive for me, actually, though I did so much OC'ing on previous rigs that I was able to feel out some of the settings with practice. Unfortunately, I also had ocz memory and ended up replacing both the mobo and ram in disgust.

I have heard mixed reviews about ocz memory from my friends.Though they all had some stability issues with their enthusiast rams.I have never owned one though.Overall the bios layout of sabretooth is decent. It is pretty intuitive but i want to have more understanding before jumping with o/c.

OCZ made some of the best DDR1 and DDR2 kits (OCZ Platinum Rev 2s, etc.). However, starting with DDR3, their ram became garbage. I got nothing but BSOD with OCZ DDR3 gold sticks. Returned them the same day. G.Skill, Mushkin or Corsair are the way to go for DDR3.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to OCZ's memory. I used to have 2GB of DDR 400 Platinum XTC.

Do you have 3D Mark Vantage? If you do what score are you getting? I wonder how big of difference between this model and the Matrix version.

I just got this card myself on Wed. On stock volts (1.025v), I was able to get it to 860/2225. This was with stock fan profile, which seems too conservative anyway, and temps were low 60s C with max fan 25%. Didn't really test for stability though, as I am adding some voltage now.

What's strikes me about this card is how quiet it is under the load. With stock fan profile, its virtually silent. It's housed in HAF 932 case, and I can't hear it over case fans. With custom fan profile in afterburner, its barely audible on 1.113v, 927/2305 with fan hitting 37% max and temps in mid 70s C. I'm coming from stock cooled GTX 460 SLI, and even though they weren't loud cards, this Asus is so much quieter, its amazing. Well worth the inconvenience of triple slot cooler to me.

What is your stock VID? If you don't want to overvolt, that's fine, I think you'll be able to get a decent overclock on stock voltage.

i have 5 sticks of 2GB DDR3 OCZ in a drawer that are bad.

As per smartdoctor my vid is 1.025V.I don't want to over-volt unless i can't get a respectable o/c from it.And yes the card is virtually silent. This is definitely one of the finest from asus. How do guys determine stable graphics card o/c?Do u run some benchmarks in 3dmark 2011?

I have owned a ocz psu before and from the experience i have learned not to use them ever again.

Your stock VID is exactly the same as mine, maybe you will be lucky: my chip didn't want to go far on stock volts.

As for stability testing, I agree with OilFieldTrash. Before I consider my OC "game-stable" I make sure it passes an hour-long loops in Crysis, Metro 2033, Heaven and Vantage all maxed out with decent AA. This time I might add an hour in 3Dmark 11 GPU test. Then I just start playing my games, keeping a close eye on the temps.

I don't fold, so as long as OC is stable in my games, I'm fine.

I eye towards 850 +/- a few MHz.I will run these games and will see how it goes
