Early this month they started to make the bios avalible to all models, but only to A320 boards, B350 and X370 were left out because they are EOL and A320 is still in production.

Not sure why Vermeer, it would have been better to have Cezanne.

EDIT: MSI updated to ComboPI 1.1.0.0 with the bios that say "Win11 Support" for the B350/X370 boards that bios have the microcode for Renoir and Veermer and they work.
But, this is likely a oversight on MSI part(they never released A320 updates like the other brands did, it is unannounced, it removes BR support and they told no one about it, and 1.1.0.0 is petty old), so expect issues.

EDIT2: Gigabyte is launching B350/X370 bios with Renoir support that also have Veermer and Cezanne microcodes. NO idea if they will boot up.

EDIT3: as of 03/30/22 Asus is starting to roll out bios updates for their B350 and X370 boards, no Cezanne support yet.

EDIT4: today 5/3/22 Asrock released their 1.2.0.7 bios for the A320M-HDV r4.0 with full Cezanne support, other brands should follow soon. It looks like AM4 is finally unified.

The latest BIOS (5862) for my A320M-K uses AGESA 1.2.0.3c. Plus it removes BR support. I don't see any reason why Cezanne wouldn't work. Even if officially unsupported. I distinctly think I saw both Vermeer and Cezanne support last time I looked on the CPU support page, but it has either been removed or I misremember.

It's a nice little bonus BTW. It opens some interesting upgrade options.

I tested it, it does not work. It boots up with a 5900X but not with a 5600G. They either ran out of space to fit the Cezanne microcode(what im petty sure its not, because B450 boards with 16MB bios supports everything) or they are blocking it on purpose, what its very, very likely because the micocode should be in there, Cezanne is a big selling point for A520/B450 after all.

Same is true for Gigabytes, i need to try with an Asrock.

Well, there goes that idea. At least there is Vermeer support, so you can use a 5600X down the line.

Or a 5800X. But my case will never handle that without sounding like a jetturbine at takeoff. 88W is about as much as I'm comfortable putting in there, and there needs to be something left for a graphics card too.

Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0 does not boot Cezanne either. It is likely that the Agesa is blocking it, just like at the start of the 500 series chipset, booting 3200G/3400G/2400G/2200G on A520/B550 was not allowed.

Just as with the A520/B550, it might work later whiout telling anyone about it.

I have been looking into this a bit, as I was thinking of grabbing a 5800X for my B350 board, now that they are getting much cheaper. Problem is, for now it looks like a custom modded BIOS is required. This the motherboard in question https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-Gaming-3-rev-1x/support#support-doc

While searching, I did find this thread, of someone who might be able to do it. https://www.win-raid.com/t2739f44-OFFER-Gigabyte-GA-AX-Aorus-Gaming-BIOS-mod.html

Another question, is anyone aware of any mods out there for this board to enable Zen 3? Or is anyone here able to make one? Bonus - I would also like to keep PCIe gen4 support. Preferably for the m.2.

I wonder if these new rumoured Renoir variants will run on A320?

We can at least hope. A Zen2 APU would be a decent upgrade path. 4C/8T (1 CCX) / 6C/12T (2 CCX) w/4-6CU IGP would be nice.

I would find VERY HARD to belive this to be a coincidence. It is likely these bios already support the new Renoirs, (if the rumor is true).

The intended target to me is miners, they cant keep up with Athlons and there still a lot of A320 stock and it is still being produced. Remember that a A320 board that has 3 PCI-e and a M2 can support 7 GPUs with a cheap pcie multiplier and a m.2 to pcie adaptor.

It looks like my B350 board has a new BIOS update out, F51c. No mention of Ryzen 5000 support though. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-Gaming-3-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios

Any ideas on this?

It does not have the microcodes for 4000 or 5000.

Other than that, i dont know.

MSI updated, silently, to Combo PI 1.1.0.0 with their bios that says "Win 11 Support" on B350/X370. As result Renoir and Veermer now works on MSI B350/X370. Not A320 because they are to yet roll out that update.

I think they did this by mistake. So expect issues.

That's pretty neat. Will I ever get to run my Ryzen R9 5900X CPUs (Zen3, Vermeer?), in my ASRock Fatality X370 Gaming Professional (the ones with 10 SATA ports, 3x PCI-E x16 slots, and Aquantia 5GbE-T LAN)? That would be ideal.

I hope Gigabyte will add some support for Ryzen 5000 on their B350 boards. That or I can get a mod for it :p I would probably just put in a 5800X, as a 12 core might be a bit harder on the board/VRMs.

They have Renoir, Veermer and Cezanne microcode in. BUT it does not means it will boot up.

All this reinforce what i did mention on the CPU th... AMD is allowing this, to some extend, while trying to avoid having Veermer and Cezanne on the 300 series. So the big focus seems to be on Renoir now, for some reason.

Cezanne doesn't boot on these new B350/X370 BIOSes, just like in A320's case. Got everything needed in the BIOS, but the lock is still there.

We still don't know anything about Vermeer. Damn it. Someone has to have one of Gigabyte's boards and a 5000 series CPU to try...

I don't like the changelog stating Renoir support. A320 BIOSes explicitly said Vermeer in the changelog...

I am tempted to take down my main rig with the 5900X and test it in the B350 with the latest UEFI update. I would rather not have to though, especially since it is in use :p

It would be great if someone could test a vermeer on a gigabyte B350/X570 with the latest update. Anyway, here is the reddit thread about it, doesn't seem confirmed.

Then why allow Vermeer for A320 if Renoir was the point all along?

Why anger the userbase that way? Why give possible first gen AM5 owners every reason to stay away from the platform if they care about longevity and support in the future?

This is another "Poor Volta" level move from AMD's marketing.

Ah too bad. Hopefully a modder will find a way around the lock.
