Asus GF3 temp sensor question

Is the built in monitoring on the Asus cards only available through their software(SmartDoctor or whatever it's called)?
I'm wondering if it's possible to monitor the temps/rpms through MBM5(or any other temp monitoring program) or perhaps via an add-on for MBM5? Would an add-on like this be possible to create even?
