Urgh....I just broke my 9600GSO...I could replace it with this. But now I'm all hyped up about the HD4830, especially since a simple bios flash will fire it past the HD4850.
But I don't think this card would be as fast as my 9600GSO was.

$55 total is a fantastic deal for this card. It's nearly 9800GT performance for $40 less.

I would assume so. They'll still start falling apart at 1080p or above simply because of the narrow memory bus.
8800GS uses better pcb board than the identically spec'd G92 9600GSO. The recently revised G94 9600GSO switched to 48 shaders, 256-bit 512 MB memory, but performs even worse than either 8800GS or old 9600GSO. 8800GS's overclock very well--most have no touble hitting 700/1050.

The 9600GSO I had ran fine on a 400w PSU made by Hipro. It has 2 12v rails with 15a on each rail I believe.

These are nice cards. I have one that has been folding for a few days now at 721/1836/1600 with no problems. I used the ASUS Smart Doctor for overclocking.
According to Fahmon it's at pace for 3850 ppd on WU 5757.
I have an Antec 300 case and I installed the optional twin 120mm intake fans, but I left the side fan out so that is just open.
This ASUS card is running at only 54 C even overclocked like it is.
Also note this ASUS card seems to have an extra voltage regulation power phase compared to EVGA and other brand cards I have seen.

See the 4 large gray things to the right of the memory chips? Most 8800GS or 9600GSO cards have 3.
I believe that having 4 means it has 3 phase power. One of them is for the memory, for the 4th.
