Asus G73SW1-A1, Yes or no?

Well, I'm in the market to replace my desktop with a laptop for portability reasons. I don't have much money to spend so I've been looking for a used one.

I found this guy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...g=hardfocom-20

The person is selling it for $550 or best offer. I was thinking about offering $500. Is it even worth it? My current PC has a 955 BE and a GTX 560 Ti. I realize I'm going to be taking a pretty major step down in the graphical department, but like I said, I need portability and low funds cause me to buy whatever I can.

So all I'm asking is do you think it's worth it for $500-550, or is there something new out there that offers better performance? I would obviously like to have it around $500, 17" screen is a must, and dedicated graphics card is a must as well.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

I like my g53sw. It's big and heavy but it serves the purpose well. I would plan on a secondary notebook for when carrying the 17" brick isn't necessary. Try to get it for 500 and buy replacement fans from the asus estore. $25ea and you need 2.

I'm not worried about the weight/size. I have a backpack that can accommodate it.

The seller dropped it to $525 shipped so I think that's a decent price. Also, he said it runs very cool and quiet as it's the second/third revision after they had the heat problem with the first batch.

Is that videocard decent? I mean will it play most games at a decent res? Let's say medium/high?

Not for a newer laptop - laptops are a wholly different market compared to a desktop. What you have is a fairly decent deal, I'd say run with it if I were you.

What about this laptop compared to the Asus G73SW1-A1?

Inspiron 17R Special Edition
Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i7-3610QM Processor (2.30GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
Dell Outlet Inspiron 17R Special Edition Laptop
1 TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
6X Blu-ray Disc Combo (DVD+/-RW + BD-ROM)
Nvidia GeForce GT 650 2GB
Under Warranty (transferable) until 10/10/2013

It's a user's on here that he's selling for $700. I can probably figure out a way to sell something to make up the difference. Do you think that would be a better deal and would last me longer (performance wise) compared to the ASUS?
