I bought this laptop almost 3 years ago. Worked find until yesterday, was just browsing the web (Facebook) and downloading a game from steam and it just completely powered off and wouldn't power back on.
Removed power cord and tried to boot from battery. Nothing.
Removed battery and tried just power cord. Nothing
Removed both battery and power cord for about 5 minutes and also held power button for about 30 seconds. Nothing.
It's out of warranty and Asus says to take it somewhere for service.
I'm guessing it's either a failed internal power supply part or the motherboard or something like that because it doesn't even power on, no LEDs, nothing.
Normally when it's plugged in the quick (linux?) boot button lights up (forget what thats called because I never used it) even when powered off. Doesn't even do that.
I'm guessing this is not going to be cheap to fix, if it can even be fixed.
I don't know of any shops that specialize in laptop repair and Asus said to take it to Best Buy, as that is where I bought it from. Geek Squad is probably going to be way more expensive than a regular PC repair shop.
Anyone have a similar experience? What did you end up doing? If you got it repaired, how much was it?
