Asus Forums Slow as Hell

Asus can make good motherboards, so what the hell is wrong with their slow ass forums. It takes forever to navigate or post anything. This is the last time I will ever buy Asus!

yeah.. it is kind of hard to understand how come a company that puts out high end products is skimping on bandwidth. I, too, sure do like their MBs, though.

haha, nice topic summary

I'm using an asus board, for now, had never been to their forum before reading this..
First of all, it was an ass to find it
Secondly, I've written this post in the time the forum main page has loaded, and it still isn't finished

I'm glad I have no business there

Yes after 15 years of buying ASUS I went MSI this year because I'm simply so disgusted by their site. Not only is it slow, it's badly designed. Different countries have different set ups and support different boards. Quite often I have to go to the global site which is almost 3 times as slow as my local site. Even Asrock, the budget priced ASUS offshoot has a better site set up.

You should have seen the begging and sometimes chiding over weeks and weeks that it took before MSI finally donated a new server to its own all-volunteer MSI Forums. They were using an old Pentium III server with 512MB RAM since the forums opened that, and get this, the forum administrators paid for out their own pocket.

I figured MSI was going to really "splurge" and donate a refurbished dual PIII with 1GB RAM, but MSI came through with dual Xeon 2.8GHz, 2 x 15KRPM U320 SCSI drives in RAID1, 2 x 1GB Reg. ECC RAM. It has since been upgraded to more RAM and RAID5, IIRC, and one similar for backup server. The damned thing was so fast that MSI actually moved all of its web servers to the forum server, including downloads. Or maybe that was the plan for the new server all along. :frown:

But ASUS, cripe! I'm pretty sure I didn't have to wait as long for pages to load while MSI's servers were OFFLINE as it takes for ASUS forums. Its been bad for months and months now, but this is inexcusable for a company with resources like ASUS.

What kills me is that companies like ASUS, MSI, HP, DELL, and the like don't even have to pay any staff or employees to man their forums and provide technical support. Idiots like us are willing to go there and work for free!

haha... yeah, well, that is what they are talking about when they say, "the rich get richer."

Most of the motherboard companies have quite slow websites. Many of them supposedly have regional sites, but they all seem like they're really based on the same server in Taiwan. I remember it used to take ages to download BIOS updates off the DFI site.

I not only don't use the ASUS forums, I don't even look in on it anymore. I joined a year or so ago and used it one day because I was having a mobo issue. I went back a few days later and it didn't even remember my sign on, so I had to do that all over again. Last time! Too bad a decent company gives itself such a black eye from its users!
