ASUS FAN Xpert 2 Sensor Temperature Discrepency

I've noticed something about my ASUS FAN Xpert 2 software. Its CPU (and I assume) motherboard sensors display a temperature about 17-18C under what RealTemp is displaying. This is annoying as hell, as I want to use the software to control my fan automatically along a temperature curve. Now, granted I could probably move the curve down assume everything is truly 20C higher, but that's annoying me. I'm attaching an example pic.

Anybody else experiencing the same or have ideas?

Totally separate sensors. Real temp reads what the CPU reports. That Asus software is reading a thermistor that likely sits under the processor and isn't the processor itself at all.

Which temperature should I care about then?
