Asus eee sound volume problem - too low!

I'm on the road now with my eee and everything is good except that the volume at max is now maybe 10% what it once was.

I've maxed the system volume, checked the video player, tried to max Skype (but didn't find a separate control). Anybody had this problem?

he has an eee, what do you want him to do, tape it to the underside and wish really hard?

I'm using Ubuntu-eee on mine with no problems. Did you make any changes since the sound used to work?
