A few years ago, my wife bought an ASUS eee pc 1215n. She rarely uses it so I looked at it to see how well it works. It is slow as molases. Ok it has only 2gb of ram, but the problem seems to be that it is running about 1.5gb of memory resident crap, and I am not sure what I can get rid of. I dont have it infront of my now, so I can't list all the programs running, but has anyone else run into this with these netbooks. I would think they would have set these up to increase the virtual memory and speed up the system but it seems to be the opposite.

Along those lines, I have been playing with config.sys, on several pc's but I cant ever seem to get rid of the bloat. Any Ideas?

Do a clean install with an nlite xp build. Google nlite and eee or netbook speed tips.

nlite lets you strip out unecessary os components and there are plenty of tips on the internet for what you can get rid of.

post a screenshot of your running processes, making sure you check the option to "show processes from all users".
