I returned my ipad2 to target, bunch of blacklight bleeds. Didn't want to dick around with the apple store for an exchange, id rather poke my eyeballs then have to go into one of those stores. I toyed with it but in all honesty it's not worth 500$ to me. Not for what I'd use it for.

300-400$ is the right price for one of these devices to me.

My CC is ready and waiting. Excited to see product pages going up for this. I am hoping it shows up for sale within a week or two.

Figures. It'll probably be $600 in the US. :( Oh well, I'll just enjoy my NC and wait for Black Friday.

What are you guys talking about? At CES, Asus said that they were targeting $400 for the Transformer.

I'd be willing to bet that the BB listing was accurate, but they pulled it because a lot of stories were referencing it. Lots of people trying to access a single page usually drags down the site as a whole so they pulled it.

So as listed on Amazon UK:

379 GBP for the pad (approx $605 USD)
429 GBP for the pad+dock (approx $685 USD)

Of course the pricing may be entirely different in the US.
Generally the pricing seems to be 1:1 for electronics and computer parts, i.e. 379 GBP -> $379 USD. Consumer electronics tend to be so much more expensive over in the UK.

Not going to say that's the case here, but generally it isn't as simple as converting the currency and saying that's what something is going to cost in the states. I wouldn't be surprised if the Transformer retailed here for $400.

I agree that UK electronics (most things actually) are more expensive than in the US. I did a quick price survey (Amazon US vs UK):

Kindle 3G - 189USD, 152 GBP
Kindle - 139USD, 111GBP
3DS- 250, 196
Ipad Touch 8gb 4G - 211, 159
Ipad Shuffle gb - 45, 39
Asus 1001PX - 254.50, 220
Asus O!Play HDP-R1- 103.48, 73.44
Asus 1015PE - 299, 260

Total markup from GBP to USD was 23.2% (not 1:1 but closer than what the exchange rate would indicate). This could indicate possible approx. pricing of:

pad only $466.93
pad plus dock $528.53

(Yes, I know that this is a small sample size)

The above post got me thinking about the VAT so I checked Amazon UK and the VAT is included in the Amazon UK price (20%). I think this brings my data into line with Frosted Flake's 1:1 observation. 1:1 not including VAT makes sense. Ordering from Amazon tax-free in the US is great. Too bad it probably won't last.
