ASUS DX Xonar and p35-ds3L

So I've installed my sound card and it's working great.
I'm wondering though, if I have to uninstall the realtek drivers thingy? I think those are the drivers which are for my on-board audio.

p.s. the sound quality of Xonar DX is significantly better than my on-board and is perfect for gaming and music

Typically, I always recommend disabling the onboard soundcard in the BIOS and then uninstalling the drivers within your OS, unless you want to run two soundcards for a recording situation. If you just remove the drivers, Windows will likely tell you you've got new hardware everytime you start your computer.

The onboard audio is usually labeled in the BIOS as "HD Audio" or "Onboard Audio" and the typical setting is AUTO. Some motherboards have different notation as to where this setting is located in the BIOS, so you may need to dig around if you're new to such tasks. Just switch that to Disabled and you should be good to go as far as getting Windows to quit recognizing it. After that, uninstall the drivers and you're gravy.
