Interesting thought if it were realized. SLI goodness for the AGP slot via bridge chip.🙂 Is there anything other than a practical marketing demographic keeping a bridged single card SLI solution from working in an AGP slot?

Does any one remember MaximumPC Mag back when the Voodo was hot in 1998?
On the back cover of several mags there was a Photo of a Video card with like 7 to 10 chips on it,It looked like 15" long, had multiple companies chips on it.
I will have to try to dig that look out and scan for this thread.
And yes there is talk of AGP Runing with PCI-X on the same board, refrence][ in the CPU mag as of late!

From what I have gathered,MotherBoard will be handeling this,Not Bridge.
This means current AGP owners will hold an SLI like card to run with a PCI-X card in the Futor.
Edit:SLI is Unness @ the moment other than for TOP Brags, IMHO
The conversion of AGP and PCI-X to boost preform will hold water for most holding cards of out date of AGP.
Thats the real Dual config to look forward to.

EDIT 2 : Via BRIDGE CHIP sorry not via bridge,my bad you were correct-CB

Why do you folks think this would be any warmer than a regular SLI'd 6800U's?
What am I missing?

A Dual GPU Artic Cooling VGA Silencer to boot, that would push enough air to cool with one fan through that long of a heatsink.
Just Kidding-CB
Edit: Thats were I feel the real Issue would lie a Propper cooling solution.
I would expect a dual fan to realy kick off an Overclockable marketable product.

I don't think it's any warmer, but I do like the fact that the manufacturers are experimenting with new ideas, rather than sitting on their hands and spewing forth some run-of-the-mill, reference designed card. I'll probably never buy it, as I don't see a need for SLI in my immediate future, but if it creates forward thinking that leads to innovative improvements, I'm all for it and it interests me.

I have a question.... why? Dual chip design died out with 3Dfx, and should have stayed that way. For the extra price some people are paying for SLI boards and 2 video cards, it just makes me question their faculties. With Dual Chip and SLI, how many more FPS do you need for these games? Is it just the fact of owning something that will score x% better on benchmarks for bragging rights?

Any of the current high-end cards should be sufficient for any gaming needs, at a lower price than sli/dual cards and without the hassle of driver issues to contend with. But hey, its your money.

*shrug*
