Competition is a good thing. I don't think this happens right now, without the 6500XT.

See, the RX 6500 XT was good for something after all... to sell more GTX 1650 cards. :p
Maybe. It will be interesting to see where the price goes from here. Does it go right back up? Does it sellout at this price? Or do more 1650s start dropping below $250? Good news regardless, for cash strapped gamers. The more cards under $300 BNIB with warranty the better. I wouldn't touch any of the old Polaris or GTX cards in that price bracket. As Bryan pointed out, on the wrong side of the bathtub curve.

I'm completely with you on the "just say NO to Polaris and Nvidia 10-series cards". Then again, I'm a miner, and out of the cards that can still mine, with some decent MH/sec for ETH, those are amoung them, but they are also very in-efficient from a power standpoint, and also, as you mention, the bathtub curve thing. Most of them have likely been mined on for years.

Also agree, the more under-$300 retail cards (that are at least 1080P Med, RT-off, capable) the better.

I have a feeling that they found these Asus cards in the warehouse, and are fire-saling the GDDR5 no-PCI-E-power model. A model from Asus, similar in appearance, but having GDDR6 (and I presume, PCI-E power cable), is also $300 from Newegg on ebay, and on their site.

So, GDDR5 version for $239, GDDR6 version for $300. Hmm. Tough choice. :)

Miners are starting to actually sell off their cards now. Mostly the older stuff, Polaris and 10-series NV. So if one could stomach those dieing in like 2 years or less, then that might be a consideration, if you can get RX 580 8GB for like $100 used again. I'll keep waiting.
