I just set up a new system with Asus A7M 266, muskin 256mb 2100, T-bird 1.1 ( 200fsb), ibm ata100 HD, geforce 2 64 mb.

Anyway my question is:
When i boot my ram frequency says 1600? I have 2100 i know.
When i tried to change the fsb to 133 in the bios it locked & wouldnt reboot, so i change the jumpers to 11x (100fsb). Ok system runs fine now but my ram is still runnin 1600, i am new to the DDR scene & need help figuring this out.

How do i get my Expencive ram to run @ its potential?( lucky i worked alot of OT last month:)

Please reply

the PC2100 wont run at its full potential unless you run at 133 fsb.. the only way to do that on the a7m266 is by either lowering the clock multiplier on the CPU itself (i.e. change L6 bridges, as im in the process of doing and going through hell) or by soddering the dip-switch that is missing from the board..

i prefered to go with the first option because the latter just seems way to complicated for someone like myself with no such experience.. not to say that trying to cut the freaking bridges on the cpu (to lower multiplier) is that much easier..

In a practical sense, you either need to get a T-bird(266MHz) when you can lay hands on one, or get the FIC Ad11 motherboard with multiplier dips, or get a new motherboard when the ViaKT266 chipset comes out.

Try gaucho's method and you hazard frying your CPU like he did after he left you the above response.

There is a way to add a dip switch to the A7M266, but it is only for seasoned pro's. If you want more info on it search the BBs at AMDzone.
