Asus DDNS has been down all day...

This is crazy. Is there a way to report it or get a status update? It's part of the reason I choose Asus routers.

Is it worth getting a paid DDNS to avoid outages like this and are they more reliable?

I think I've only noticed the Asus one being down one other time, but not this long!

How do you all cope with this problem?

I've used DynDNS (no longer free) and No-IP, but switched to DuckDNS for the ability to get a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. I prefer DuckDNS free accounts anyway since you don't have to renew it every month like you do with No-IP. Google searches for No-IP and DuckDNS outages are nonexistant compared to Asus DDNS.

I'm experiencing this too, so you're not alone.

Googling appears to indicate that Asus is doing some server updating on their end but I haven't found anything concrete in that regard worth linking to.

Edit: It's working now.

With No-ip setup in my router it renews automatically.

Whats the benefit of the Encrypt SSL cert?

I had it setup in my router as well, but still got emails every month and had to click through a few prompts to renew.

I use it with ownCloud for contacts, calendar, and file/media backup on my Android phone and tablet. HTTPS is critical for security, and using self-signed certificates on Android are a hassle. Let's Encrypt only works with very few DDNS providers (the ones that make the effort to support it).

I use to get those reminder emails also but as of the last few merlin firmware updates on my router it now renews and I don't get the emails.

Hmm not sure if I will use owncloud but will look more into it thanks for the info.
